Boca Aviation's
"Air Fare" Sampler Raises Nearly $1,700 for Angel Flight
BOCA RATON,
Fla. (Sept. 8, 2003) - Close to $1,700 will go toward helping
people in need receive free emergency medical transportation, thanks
to the "Air Fare" Sampler, a Boca Festival Days event
held by Boca Aviation.
More than 75
people took part in the Aug. 27 event, sponsored by Boca Aviation,
which benefited Angel Flight. The event was held in a Boca Aviation
hangar on the grounds of the Boca Raton Airport and featured buffet
tables complete with cuisine found on corporate and private jets,
provided by Catering by Starlite of Lake Worth.
"We're
very pleased by the support we received from the Boca Aviation and
the community," said Tom Powers, Chairman of Angel Flight Southeast,
part of Angel Flight America, a non-profit organization that will
coordinate over 15,000 free airborne medical transportation for
patients in 2003 flown by over 5,000 pilots that donate all costs
of their aircraft. "The money raised by this event will go
a long way toward helping our' 'Earth Angels' volunteers coordinate
and schedule medical missions."
In addition
to enjoying the air fare, guests of Boca Aviation at Air Fare Sampler
toured corporate jets and a helicopter, that will take the winner
of one of three donated door prizes on a 30-minute tour of Boca
Raton.
On hand for
the inaugural Air Fare Sampler were several city officials as well
as representatives from the Boca Raton Airport Authority and the
Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. Among those attending were
Boca Raton Mayor Steven Abrams, Council Members Dave Freudenberg
and Susan Haynie and Boca Raton Airport Authority Member Barry Allen.
Also on hand was Mike Arts, president of the Greater Boca Raton
Chamber of Commerce.
"This was
a great event and a great foundation that we can build on in the
future," said Mark Wantshouse, president of Boca Aviation.
"Our hope was to provide a unique experience for our community,
while raising money for an outstanding organization. Thanks to many
in our community, we were able to achieve that goal. We especially
want to thank Catering by Starlite, Universal Jet, Cool 105.5 and
Howard Ryals for making our first Air Fare Sampler a great success."
For 30 years,
Boca Festival Days has helped boost business during what is traditionally
a slow time. Last year, Boca Festival Days raised $250,000 for non-profit
organizations. The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce organizes
Boca Festival days.
